Tried a $60 laser level on a 40 foot deck frame in Boise and it cost me half a day
I figured a cheap laser would beat dragging a string line across a 40 foot deck in Boise, so I set it on a tripod and trusted it. Turned out the thing was off by 3/16 over the run, which I did not catch until the rim joist was already screwed down. I ended up pulling the whole thing apart and going back to my old water level, which never lies. Has anyone found a budget laser that actually holds true past 30 feet, or is this just what you get under $200?
