I thought writing prompts were lazy, then a broken prompt generator at 2am proved me wrong
Last Tuesday my free prompt generator site crashed with a 503 error right when I had nothing to write about, so I pulled an old paperback writing exercise book off the shelf and made myself use the worst prompt in it: describe a character by what's in his fridge. I figured it was a lazy gimmick, but 40 minutes later I had 600 words and a character I actually liked. Now I'm second guessing my whole "prompts are a crutch" thing. What's the dumbest sounding prompt that ended up giving you something good?
