Department of Labor says enclosed malls peaked at 2,500 nationwide in 1990, and I keep seeing that number at every dead one I visit

I read it on the DOL site while looking up old retail jobs and now every abandoned Sears I walk through in Ohio feels like I'm standing in one of the 1,300 or so that didn't survive, so how many of you actually count the malls you've hit, or am I the weird one for keeping a list?
