Serious question, does anyone else notice the payphones still humming in these dead malls?
I was walking through the mostly empty Tri-County Mall near Cincinnati last month and a lonely bank of payphones near the old Sears entrance still had a dial tone. A guy in an orange vest sweeping the floor shrugged and told me nobody has bothered to pull the lines yet. It got me thinking about how many dead malls are still running on little pieces of phone infrastructure nobody turned off. Has anyone else seen a payphone still working in a mall that's basically a ghost town?
