The mall directory at Athens Mall still lists a Camelot Music and a KB Toys, and the mall closed in 2004
I was poking around an abandoned mall in Athens, Georgia last weekend and grabbed a photo of the old backlit directory board near the food court. It had 47 store slots listed, and more than half of them were chains that don't exist anywhere anymore, like Camelot Music, KB Toys, and a Waldenbooks. The creepiest part was a hand-written sticker over one slot that said "Coming Soon" for a store that never opened before the place shut down in 2004. Does anyone else keep a running list of dead chains they spot on these old boards, or am I the only one who takes pictures of signage instead of the actual stores?
