That $19 dash cam from a flash sale died in 3 days, and I finally get why my dad never trusted mail order
Back in 2019 I grabbed a dash cam off one of those flash deal sites for $19.99 with free shipping, and I figured even if it was junk I was only out a twenty. It showed up in a plastic bag with no manual, and the suction cup fell off my windshield in the parking lot before I even drove home. Three days later the thing just froze on a still frame and never recorded again, so I ate the cost and tossed it. My dad used to order stuff from the back of magazines in the 80s, and he always said if the price doesn't make sense, somebody's cutting something. These days I check return policies and seller history before I bite, which is funny because half these glitch deals get canceled anyway. What's the cheapest thing you ever bought that actually surprised you by lasting?
