The $30 'verified source' plugin that spread fake news faster than my aunt

Bought some browser add-on that claimed to check article sources after seeing it in a viral thread, cost me $30 for a year. It flagged a totally real local report from the Kalamazoo Gazette as spam while greenlighting a blog run by a guy who thinks birds are government drones. Anyone else get burned by one of these 'trust meters' or is there actually one that works?
