My sister shared that viral video of a 'shark' in a flooded NJ street. I found the original upload and it was a dolphin in 2016.
Last week my sister sent me a video with 3 million likes claiming a shark swam down a flooded street in Atlantic City. Before I reposted it I did a quick reverse image search and found the original upload from August 2016, and it was actually a dolphin that got stranded during a storm, not a shark. The weird part is the caption on the viral version said 'yesterday' and tagged a town 40 miles inland. I used to just share stuff that looked wild because it felt harmless, but now I spend 2 minutes checking the date and location on anything with a big number next to it. Last month I caught another one, a 'tornado' clip that was really from a movie set in Oklahoma in 2013. I posted corrections in both family group chats and got left on read both times, which is its own kind of feedback. Does anyone here have a fast way to check if a storm video is real, or do you just reverse search and hope for the best?
