Shoutout to the pawn shop guy in Amarillo who showed me how to spot a fake Rolex in 2017
I went back there 3 years ago to sell my dad's old watch and the owner spent 20 minutes pointing out the weight and the tick on the second hand. Last week I used what he taught me to walk away from a $400 "deal" at a flea market in Lubbock. Anyone else learn a skill like that from a random shop owner?
Walked into a jewelry store last month thinking I knew everything about gold after watching one YouTube video. Guy pulled out a magnet and I just stood there like an idiot while he explained my "solid gold" chain was brass. Still can't tell if I learned anything that day or just got humbled. That pawn shop guy sounds like a real one for taking the time.
