The drop ceiling grid spacing myth finally made sense at 2 AM
I was redoing my basement and kept second-guessing the 2-foot layout, then a random 2011 forum reply mentioned that the grid is sized for 2x4 panels but the tile sag tolerance is where it bites you. Anyone else run into weird flex on those thin aluminum tees when the house shifts?

Man, I feel this. Did my own ceiling a few years back and spent an entire weekend convinced I was losing my mind over a half inch gap. Turns out my house was just doing its usual "settle and groan" thing and the tiles looked like a funhouse mirror until I swapped in the heavier duty clips.

Surface level maybe, but moisture could be warping those joists too.
