Ping pong balls replaced my expensive camera rig for eye tracking tests

I used to drop $200 on motion capture markers for verifying deep fake blink patterns, but after a 2022 shoot in Austin where they kept falling off, I switched to painted ping pong balls on wire and they track just as clean for half the cost, has anyone else tried DIY substitutes for fake detection hardware?
