I finally got my AC to cool after 3 days of 110 degree heat
Woke up Monday to find my AC unit blowing warm air in Phoenix. Turned out a lizard had fried itself on the capacitor. $45 part and some patience later, I'm back to cold air. Anyone else deal with desert critters messing with their HVAC?

Funny how nature always finds a way to break your stuff at the worst possible moment.

Man, I gotta disagree a little bit. I think nature's just doing its thing and we're the ones who pick the worst times to have stuff break. Like, a tree root doesn't know your basement is going to flood when you have a deadline. It's just growing. Last summer my fence blew over in a storm and of course my in-laws were coming the next day. But the fence was 20 years old and rotten at the base, so it wasn't nature's fault really. It was my fault for not replacing it sooner.

Right? It's like the universe waits for the worst timing. My basement flooded last spring right when I had a huge work deadline, so I know that feeling too well. What really saved me was having a basic emergency kit ready in a bin - a pump, some sandbags, and a waterproof tarp for the electronics. It didn't fix everything overnight but it gave me a few hours to breathe before I had to deal with the real mess. Did you end up finding a quick fix for whatever broke?
