A viewer's note on my quiet animation changed how I see showcases

I used to make digital art loops with no sound, sure the pictures were enough. Then someone at a showcase said the silence made it feel sad. That made me think about how sound can change the mood. Now I try to add simple audio to my work. Do you think sound matters in a digital art show?

Yeah, when shane said sound fills in feeling, that hit home. My friend Leo had a VR exhibit with just visuals, and people said it felt kinda hollow. He slapped on some basic nature sounds, and suddenly the whole thing felt COMPLETELY different.

That line about silence making it feel sad really hit me. I mean, it's wild how much sound shapes a mood without you even knowing. It happens everywhere, like how the wrong background music in a cafe can make you feel tense, or the right hum of a fan can help you focus. Idk, maybe it's just me but we notice when sound is missing, and it fills in so much feeling. So yeah, sound totally matters, even a simple layer, because it finishes the thought your art starts.

Gary Rydstrom, the sound designer for Toy Story, talked about using silence to make moments feel bigger. That totally lines up with what you're saying, @shane_torres58.
