A simple notebook trick that saved me during the paperwork mess
When my ex and I split, the legal stuff felt like a mountain of forms. I kept losing track of who needed what and when. I bought a cheap spiral notebook from the drugstore and started a log. Every time I mailed something, I wrote down the date, what it was, and the tracking number. When I talked to my lawyer, I wrote the date and a one-line note about what we said. It cost maybe $3. After a month, my lawyer asked for proof I'd sent a financial disclosure back in April. I flipped to the page, showed him the date and the USPS number, and he just nodded. It turned a huge fight into nothing. Has anyone else found a basic tool that cut through the chaos like that?

That notebook trick is honestly a lifesaver for keeping your sanity.

The physical act of writing it down makes it stick in your brain better than typing or a photo. I tried the digital thing, but I'd forget the album existed. With the notebook, it's a single place. Flipping pages to find something creates a memory of where you saw it. My brain treats a phone photo like it's already in the cloud and gone forever.

Seems like a lot of work for a simple problem. Couldn't you just take a picture with your phone and throw it in an album? A whole notebook feels like overkill for tracking a few mailings.
