Saw a cool fabric trick at the museum in Denver last weekend
They had this old dress from the 1920s on display, and the guide pointed out how they used a single piece of silk to make the whole draped back. I've been trying to sketch something with that kind of flow but my drapes always look stiff. Has anyone tried a similar one-piece cut for a modern design?

Actually, they often used weights.

That Denver museum guide probably left out the part where the mannequin is secretly pinned into next Tuesday. My own drapes just look like sad napkins.

Oh man, do I feel that! My last attempt at a draped skirt just sat there like a deflated balloon. I tried a super light rayon thinking it would flow, but it had no body at all and just clung in weird places. Maybe we need that perfect middle-weight fabric?
