Just had a $20 Shein dress completely fall apart after one wash
The entire side seam ripped open from the armpit to the hem when I took it out of the dryer, which basically confirms all the horror stories about their quality control and fabric strength.

Actually, I think that rip is more about the fabric and thread quality than the washing. In my experience, cheap polyester can just shred under any stress, and the thread they use is often super thin. The dryer heat probably just finished it off, but the weak spot was already there from how it was made.

Yeah, but the dryer heat weakens those cheap threads way before you even wear it. It's not just the stress.

That "armpit to the hem" rip is exactly what happened to my favorite tank top last week.
