Rant: My payment tracking was all over the place until I made one change
For a long time, I kept missing client payments because my method was just too loose. I would jot down notes on random papers and hope I remembered. It led to me asking clients for money weeks late, which felt bad. Then I decided to use a plain notebook to write every invoice date and amount. I check it each Monday morning now without fail. Last month, all my payments came in on time for the first time ever. It's a tiny win, but it cuts down on so much worry. Freelancing is hard enough without adding money stress on top.

Yeah, @jana672 calling it "low key genius" is so right. I was drowning in app notifications and missed alerts all the time. Switched to a big wall calendar right above my desk and just write payments due in red pen. Seeing it physically there every day means I never have to try and remember.

I used to be all about digital apps for this stuff, but "plain notebook" is low key genius lol. You just changed my whole view on keeping it simple.

Seriously, the notebook trick is a game changer. I keep a cheap one in my bag and just scribble stuff down as it comes up. No more unlocking my phone, opening an app, and getting distracted by a text. Last week I caught a late fee because I saw "water bill" written in my own messy handwriting.
