My glass color clarity fix was using thinner coats

Heavy pigment just clouds the glass, so go light.

Scrape any off while it's wet? What was your friend even trying to paint?

Did they use a palette knife or just go crazy with the brush? I've had that happen when I didn't let layers dry first. You can sometimes save it by scraping off the excess with a credit card if it's still wet. Otherwise, just call it a happy accident and start over.
