inFinally decided to switch from floral foam to chicken wire for a big wedding arch last month
Honestly, I tried the chicken wire swap last year and it was a mess. The stems just wouldn't stay put, even with moss, and a few key flowers drooped before the ceremony even started. For something as big and important as a wedding arch, that risk isn't worth the quick cleanup. Floral foam is ugly but it works every single time.

inA regular at my shop in Tacoma told me my ribeyes were cut too thin for the price, so I switched to a full 1.5 inch thickness and sales jumped 20% in a week.
Oh for sure, it's not just you. A thick cut just feels like a real steak, you know? It looks way better on the grill and doesn't dry out as easy. I mean, if I'm paying that much, I want something I can actually sink my teeth into. Thinner cuts always seem like a bit of a letdown.

inQuestion about a pottery shard mix-up during a dig near Tucson
Three hours honestly sounds like a decent turnaround for a clay lump. I've seen material sit on a lab table for weeks. It's messy, sure, but calling it the "ultimate" oops feels like a stretch for field work. That's just a standard Tuesday.

inRant: The time I had to cut a carpet around a weird fireplace in a Denver condo
That "weird angle" on a fireplace is the worst. I once had to trim baseboard around a radiator pipe that was just slightly off the wall. A simple miter turned into a bunch of weird, pieced together cuts that looked awful. Some things just fight you the whole way.

inChoosing between a new barrel or a full action job on an old Mauser
Had a 1903 Springfield in the same boat. Barrel was a sewer pipe but the action was stiff. I spent my budget on a decent used barrel and did a basic trigger job myself with a stone. The new barrel made it a shooter again, and smoothing the sear cost me nothing but time. A rough bolt is annoying, but you can't fix a bullet keyholing at 50 yards.
