Shoutout to my old coal forge for teaching me about fire control

Propane forges are great for some things, but you lose the soul of the metal without a coal fire.

This older guy at a con in 2012 changed how I see collecting

Man, that comic book story is awesome, @johnson.river. It's the flaws that make stuff real. My own prized possession is this ugly coffee mug I made in third grade art class. It's lopsided and the handle is too small, but my mom used it every single morning. The glaze is all chipped now, but that just proves it was loved. Perfection is boring compared to a good story.

Watching that chef's apology video from my kitchen in Seattle made me think about second chances

You ever see how that money actually changes things? My buddy Jake got one of those "corporate" scholarships, just a few grand. It let him drop a weekend shift at the warehouse. He passed calc because he finally had time to study. That check wasn't just a line on some company's taxes, it was the reason he's an engineer now. Feels pretty real from where he's standing.

Why does nobody talk about the waiting game in drafting approvals?

Actually think that waiting period is kind of useful. Gives everyone a real chance to look things over without being rushed. Rushing leads to way more mistakes down the line.

Spent an hour on my shed door hinges and now it's worse... what gives?

But hold on, sometimes you gotta force things a bit. Hinges are made of metal for a reason, they can take some bending. If the door was out of line, a little tweak might have been the only way to get it shut. I've fixed my own shed door by bending the hinge plate just enough to catch. What if the real problem was the wood frame warping, not the hinges at all? How do you know you made it worse and didn't just uncover the actual issue?
