Pro tip: I tried a different coax stripper on a job in Tempe and it was a total game changer

Actually, that sharper angle can be a double-edged sword. On fresh cable it's great, but on old brittle stuff it can dig in and cause a crush instead of a clean cut. A slightly more rounded blade tends to roll over the cracks without catching. Found that out the hard way on some ancient cable in an attic.

My buddy told me to skip the switchbacks on the PCT near Mount Hood

Trusting the built trail is always smarter.

My mentor in Charlotte told me to always mix my own toner from scratch instead of buying pre-made, and after a year of stubbornly ignoring her, I finally tried it on a client's level 6 brass and the control was unreal.

I mean, of course it took you a year to listen, we've all been there. It's like when someone tells you to actually read the recipe instead of just winging it and you're stubborn until you finally do and your cake doesn't collapse. That pre-made stuff is basically a guessing game with someone else's formula. Mixing your own is just you fixing the exact problem in front of you, not some average brass they imagined.

Appreciation post: A viewer told me my 'day in the life' videos felt too staged

Wasn't there a study a while back about how our brains pick up on tiny cuts? I read that even quick edits can make something feel less true, even if you don't know why. It makes total sense that a single shot feels more honest. You're right, it stops feeling like a performance. That's probably why so many documentary makers swear by it now.

Tried two AI art tools for a comic project and the results were night and day

My buddy had a similar thing happen with his D&D group. He was making custom character portraits for everyone using a free generator. Every time he tried to get a new pose for the elf ranger, she looked like a totally different person. He finally caved and used a paid tool with a style lock feature. It cost him maybe fifteen bucks, but the look on his players' faces when they saw their characters stay the same was worth it. Sometimes the free stuff just can't do the specific job you need done.
