inWent through a shutter curtain repair on an old F2 and realized how much simpler things were before circuit boards.
Magnetic tray... that's the game changer honestly. I picked up one of those silicone ones with little sections at a hardware store for like eight bucks and it saved my sanity. Now when I take apart anything with tiny screws I just drop them in the sections in order of disassembly, no more guessing which thread goes where. Also started taking a quick photo with my phone before pulling things apart so I can backtrack if I get lost. The extra spring thing still happens sometimes though... I've got a little jar labeled "mystery parts" that's getting pretty full at this point.

inWas dead set against spray foam insulation until my electric bill proved me wrong
Three months is rough. I think I would have just set the whole garage on fire after that first week. Closed cell foam is great for insulation but whoever invented the smell should have to live in a room full of it for a year. My brother tried the DIY spray kit once and his wife made him sleep in the shed for two nights. At least you got a free science experiment out of it maybe you can start a cologne line called "Eau de Garage." Some people pay extra for that new car smell, you had new chemical lab smell instead.

inJust learned that dandelions aren't actually weeds
Wow, that's wild! It's funny how we just assume something's a weed because it's everywhere, but most of those plants have a real history. It's like how people call ladybugs "pests" when they're actually eating the aphids that ruin your garden. Or how most folks think moss is just a nuisance on their lawn, but it's actually a sign the soil's healthy and acidic. We slap labels on things without really knowing where they came from or what they're doing. Makes you wonder what other common stuff we've got wrong.

inA coworker told me to ditch my daily coffee shop run and I'm mad they were right
Paid $7 for a latte once and they spelled my name wrong.

inJust realized my new-ish furnace was blowing cold air for a week before I noticed
Isn't that the worst feeling when you realize something's been broken for a while without you noticing? @olivermason is totally right that a simple flashing light would save so many headaches, especially when these new furnaces cost that much. For real, don't beat yourself up about it, modern appliances hide their problems too well and that $80 hit is just a stupid tax on life, not bad luck.
