Ran into the guy from that 'Chewbacca Mom' video at a gas station

I was just filling up my car in Katy, Texas last week when I saw her. She was buying a soda, looking totally normal. We talked for a minute and she said the craziest part was when the free stuff stopped coming about a year after the video blew up. She said she still gets recognized maybe once a month, but it's just a quick selfie now. Has anyone else met an old viral star years later and been surprised by how normal things are for them?

Met a guy who was in that "cash me outside" meme at a hardware store. He was just buying light bulbs. We chatted for a second and he said the same thing, that it's mostly just a funny story now. It's wild how fast that stuff fades for them. Makes you wonder if any of them actually like being remembered for it.

Fame's just a weird 15 minutes at the checkout line.

I saw an interview where the "cash me outside" girl said she still gets recognized but it doesn't bother her much anymore.
