Picked a $40 brush pack over an $80 tablet pen for my comic, and I keep second guessing it
So I draw a webcomic after work and my old tablet pen died two weeks ago, right in the middle of a page. I had $80 set aside and it came down to buying a new pen or a cheap brush pack and just inking on paper like I did in high school. I went with the brushes because I was sick of staring at a screen, and honestly the pages look better, but now three of my artist friends keep telling me I am wasting time inking by hand when an AI tool could clean up my linework in a click. I said no because the wobble in my lines is kind of my whole style, and one of them called that cute, which still bugs me. Has anyone else had friends push the AI cleanup thing on them after they already decided to stay analog?
My cousin went through the same thing with her pottery, and her studio mate kept saying a 3D printer could copy her mugs faster. She tried one batch and hated it, then went back to her wheel. The wobble is the point, so trust the pages you already like.
