Walked into a gallery in Santa Fe last weekend and half the pieces had that AI look
I get that tools change art and people said the same stuff about cameras and Photoshop, but this felt different walking past oil paintings someone spent weeks on to a wall of glossy prints made in an afternoon. Where's the line for you, is it about the hours put in or just the end result?
That gut punch of seeing handmade work next to a quick print is real, and you're not wrong to feel weird about it. For me the line isn't really hours, since plenty of great art gets made fast, it's more about whether a person actually made choices along the way. Your mileage may vary though, since I know folks who care way less about that than I do.
