Asked a chatbot to plan my meals for a month and it put peanut butter on spaghetti
I gave one of those AI meal planners a shot for 30 days because my grocery bill hit $412 in July and I wanted to cut it down. I typed in my budget, my allergies, and the fact that I hate mushrooms, and it spit out a whole month of dinners that looked pretty solid at first glance. Night three it told me to put peanut butter on spaghetti with a side of steamed carrots, and I sat there staring at my phone trying to figure out if this was some wellness thing I missed. I made it anyway out of stubbornness, and it was exactly as bad as it sounds. The weird part is the shopping list it gave me was dead on, saved me $63 that month just from not buying junk I never finish. So now I use it for lists only and write the meals myself. Anyone else found a tool that is great at one thing and terrible at the thing it is actually named after?
Tried the same kind of thing last year and got a "recipe" that mixed canned tuna with vanilla yogurt, so yeah, the meal ideas are a mess. But the shopping list part was weirdly good for me too, it actually stuck to my budget and stopped me from buying stuff I forget in the fridge. It cracks me up that these things are named after meals when the list is the only part that works. Guess a fancy name doesn't mean much when it tells you to eat peanut butter noodles.
