My sleep tracker app went from junk to useful after it learned my weird schedule, took about a month
I use an app on my phone that watches my sleep, and for the first few weeks the thing was basically guessing. It would tell me I slept great on nights when I woke up five times, and it flagged bad sleep when I felt fine, so I almost deleted it. Then I noticed something around the one month mark: the scores started lining up with how I actually felt. I think the change happened because the app stopped comparing me to some average person and started comparing me to my own past nights. It picked up that I sleep better when I go to bed before 11, and it stopped bugging me about my 6 hour nights since those seem normal for me now. Last Tuesday it told me my deep sleep was low, and sure enough I had been up with a headache all night. The whole thing is just pattern matching on a ton of data points, no magic to it, but watching it learn my habits was kind of cool. Has anyone else had an app like this actually get better with time, or did yours just stay dumb forever?
