My brother in law said breading fish for the air fryer is pointless, now I'm second guessing 3 years of doing it
We were at his place in Boise over the weekend and I was breading some cod like I always do, flour then egg then panko, and he just laughed and said the air fryer blows all the dry crumbs off anyway so I'm wasting my time. I told him it comes out fine but then I actually watched his plain seasoned fillets come out with a way better crust than mine usually get. Mine always have bald spots where the breading slid off and I figured that was just how it goes with the basket. Now I'm sitting here wondering if I've been fighting the machine this whole time for no reason. He brushes them with a little oil and does 400 for about 10 minutes and flips once, that's it. So has anyone actually cracked decent breading in one of these things, or is he right and I should just stop bothering?
