My neighbor told me my air fryer chicken was too dry and now I do this one thing differently
A few months ago I brought some air fried chicken thighs to a block party. My neighbor took one bite and said they were dry on the outside. I was a little embarrassed but she was right. She told me I needed to pat the chicken dry first and then spray a light coat of oil instead of brushing it on heavy. I tried that method with a batch of drumsticks last Tuesday and the skin came out perfectly crisp and the meat stayed juicy. Has anyone else gotten feedback like this that changed their whole air fryer technique?

Yeah the heavy oil thing gets people every time. I switched to a mister bottle after burning through a whole can of spray stuff in a week. Now I just give the basket a couple quick pumps and it spreads thin enough to crisp without getting greasy.

Haha, "couple quick pumps" gets me every time, I swear I sound like I'm fixing a lawnmower in the kitchen. I tried the mister bottle once but ended up just spraying myself in the face like an idiot because I forgot to remove the lid. Now I'm back to slathering oil on with a paper towel and hoping nobody sees me.

And that mister trick works even better if you warm the oil up a bit first. Just set the bottle in warm water for a minute, it sprays way more even that way.
