TIL my air fryer can't handle wet batter...

I tried making onion rings and the batter dripped everywhere, causing smoke. Check your recipes for dry coatings instead.

Notice this pattern a lot with kitchen gadgets. They get sold as magic tools but have specific rules no one tells you. Your onion ring disaster is just another case of that.

Try a thicker batter next time, @beth147, that usually fixes the onion ring issue.

That "secret manual" thing is so true... but who writes it? Is it just trial and error from people who wrecked their first batch, or do the companies actually know and just don't say?
