Rant: Got tired of losing 10mm sockets under the engine cowl so I zip tied a magnet to my drop light
I was doing a plug change on a 172 at our hangar in Greeley and kept fishing the same socket out of the belly with a bent welding rod. I strapped a small magnet from Harbor Freight to the cage of my drop light with two zip ties and now anything I drop just sticks to the light before it hits the floor. Has anyone else rigged something like this, or am I late to a trick everyone already knows?

A magnet on the drop light cage and it never crossed my mind? Two years of fishing sockets out of the cowl with a coat hanger and you just solve it with zip ties.
