That time a Cessna 172 in Boise taught me to trust my gut over the manual
I was doing an annual on a rental bird, following the manual to the letter for a flap rigging check. The book said the torque was good, but the whole linkage just felt sloppy in my hands, like worn-out play. I called the owner and we pulled the whole assembly, finding a cracked bellcrank the book's check wouldn't have caught. Now I always do a physical hand check on flight controls, no matter what the paperwork says. Anyone else run into a spec that just didn't match the real feel of the part?

Ever wonder if the manual's torque specs are for new parts only?

Oh man, that reminds me of my old bike's stripped bolt!

Yeah, rileyprice, that's the worst. Feels like half the stuff I own is just waiting to fail after the first time you fix it. Planned obsolescence is real.
