Took me 12 years to realize my torque wrench was the problem, not my technique
Back in 2009 I started at a regional shop in Tucson and learned to torque landing gear bolts by feel plus the click. About 3 years ago I noticed my torque values on flight control rod ends kept coming out low on the first check. I sent my old wrench out for calibration and it was off by almost 18 foot-pounds at the high end. Swapped in a digital one and now my re-checks are 90 percent fewer. Anyone else chase ghost issues for years before checking tool calibration on a regular schedule?
