I thought glass break detectors were a gimmick until a guy in Reno showed me a demo with a real window
I sat on a $40 glass break sensor for 6 months thinking it would false alarm on dishes and dogs, then a tech in Reno cracked a scrap pane next to a running vacuum and it tripped in under a second, and now I want to know if anyone has had one go off from a car door slam or a dropped pan.
The "false alarm on dishes and dogs" worry is real though, my buddy's goes off every time his lab barks right next to it. Car door slams don't seem to bug it, but a dropped pan on tile definitely has. Placement matters more than people admit.
