PSA: Don't trust cheap transmission fluid flush kits

Nah man, air bubbles look totally different from actual chocolate milk. I've seen both up close and trust me, you can tell the difference. Real coolant contamination turns that fluid into a thick, milky mess that looks like a melted milkshake. Air bubbles are more like soda fizz, they clear up fast when the engine runs a bit. Chocolate milk sticks around and smells burnt. I'm not saying I'm some expert, but I've ruined enough parts to know the difference by now. That stuff is bad news, period.

PSA: Don't trust cheap transmission fluid flush kits

Man I feel your pain. I tried a cheap flush kit on my old Civic once and it turned the transmission fluid into chocolate milk inside of 5 minutes. My buddy still calls me "flush master" to this day, and not in a good way. Take it from someone who learned the hard way, those bargain kits are basically a gamble with your transmission's life. Your mileage may vary of course, but I'd rather pay for the good stuff upfront than get hit with a $600 surprise.

That chat with a homeowner about glass break sensors threw me off

Felt that one. Had a guy in a old craftsman house show me he put his sensor behind a heavy curtain facing the corner and it picked up way better than the ceiling mount I was about to do. Made me question everything for a solid week. Now I always ask homeowners if theyve got any tricks, especially the older ones whove tinkered with their own gear for years. That whole "experience beats the manual" thing is real, even if it stings the pride a little.

Warning: I tried a weird trick with my pork shoulder that actually worked

Did wrapping with butcher paper help you keep the bark intact?

My landlord tried to keep my security deposit for 'normal wear and tear'

Oh yeah, the old "repainting after you leave" trick. That's a classic. My landlord in Wicker Park tried to hit me with $400 for "smoke damage" because I had a candle on the counter once. I sent them a certified letter with the Chicago RLTO section about repainting being on them after a year, and suddenly they found a "mistake" in their math. Got my full deposit back plus a little extra for the hassle. People don't realize how much power the RLTO gives you if you just actually read it and follow the steps.
