Chose the $60 laser level over the old bubble one and I'm still not sure I made the right call
Finally had to pick between my dad's old Stanley bubble level and a cheap $60 laser level when I framed my brother's garage in Boise last month. The bubble one is dead simple, no batteries, and I trust it. But the laser let me shoot a line across 30 feet by myself, which saved me from walking back and forth a hundred times. Here is the thing though, the laser drifted about a quarter inch over that span and I only caught it because I double checked with a string line. I keep reading that the affordable ones need a warm up and a recheck, but nobody at the job site agrees on which way to go. So now I own both and I still grab the old bubble one for anything under 10 feet. Has anyone found a cheap laser that actually holds its line over long runs, or am I just fooling myself at this price?
