When a customer's complaint about false alarms changed my panel setup

I had a residential job last month in Columbus where the homeowner kept getting false alarms every time their furnace kicked on. They were about to cancel the contract and told me the system was useless. I checked and my sensor placement was too close to a heat vent, and the rate-of-rise detector on the ceiling was the real problem. I moved it to a wall corner, adjusted the sensitivity down a notch, and changed the alarm delay from 15 to 30 seconds. Has anyone else had to rework a panel layout after a false alarm complaint, or do you usually plan for HVAC airflow from the start?

Did you account for the cold air return too, because that can mess with sensors just as much?
