Had to pick between a full monthly spread or just rolling weekly logs

Tried going full monthly spread last January with all those fancy trackers and it was a total waste of 3 hours. Switched to just weekly logs on the fly and my bujo actually gets used now instead of sitting there looking pretty. Anyone else find monthly spreads just don't stick for them?

My landlord tried to evict me over a broken window last week

I live in a building in Lincoln Park and the window in my bedroom just cracked on its own during that cold snap last Tuesday. The landlord said I have to pay $400 to fix it or he'll file for eviction. Is that even legal here in Chicago?

Have laptop warranties actually gotten worse or are customers just more demanding now

I used to do warranty repairs for Dell back in 2014 and we swapped parts same day no questions asked, but last Tuesday a guy brought in a six month old HP with a dead motherboard and the warranty process took three phone calls and a week of back and forth, so has the service degraded or are people just expecting too much for a $400 machine?

I flipped through my 2019 journal last night and saw pages full of complex habit trackers and color coded boxes. Now my spreads are just dates and a few bullet points for tasks. Anyone else find their system got simpler as time went on?

That researcher I met at a coffee shop changed how I see AI training data

I was grabbing a latte in Portland last Tuesday and this woman sat down next to me with a laptop full of spreadsheets. She noticed I was reading an article about large language models and asked if I worked in the field. Turns out she spends her days labeling ambiguous medical images for a hospital AI. She told me about one x-ray where three different doctors gave three different answers on what they saw. She said she has to pick one answer to feed into the model, even when she knows it's probably wrong. That stuck with me because we talk about AI training like it's all clean data, but real human input is messy. Has anyone else run into the people behind the scenes who actually label this stuff?

Used to defend every single comic book movie adaptation online. Now I just roll my eyes and move on.

Honestly it was around 2019 when I got into a 3 hour argument on a forum about the Batman suit in the Snyder cut. I was typing paragraphs at 2am defending every little detail. Then I realized none of these people are gonna change their minds and I was just wasting my energy. Now when I see someone hating on a casting choice or a costume change I just close the tab. Has anyone else just hit a wall with caring about this stuff?

That 'deep fake' of the mayor in Austin fooled me for a solid 10 minutes

I was watching a news clip someone sent me about the Austin mayor announcing new city policies. It looked so real, the lighting was perfect, and the facial movements seemed natural. Then I noticed the eyes didn't blink at the same rate as a normal person, and the audio had a tiny lag. That one video made me start checking every local politician clip frame by frame. How do you guys handle deep fakes of people you actually know the real voice of?

I finally cleared 2,000 old screenshots in one go

I had over 4,000 random screenshots from the last 3 years clogging up my phone storage and it made me avoid checking photos entirely. I used the search bar to delete everything with the word 'receipt' in the caption and that cut it down by half in under 10 minutes. What weird file types do you guys hold onto the most?

My taping knife snapped in the middle of a ceiling job Tuesday

I was about halfway through smoothing out a butt joint on a 12-foot ceiling in a new build out in Elmwood when my 12-inch taping knife just snapped right at the handle. The blade went flying and I almost fell off the stilts. I had to hop down and fish the blade out of a bucket of mud. Lucky it didn't hit anyone or drop into the fresh compound. I grabbed a backup knife from the truck but it was a cheap one and the flex was all wrong. Took me an extra hour to finish that pass. Has anyone else had a tool fail on them mid job and what did you switch to?

Burned 3 batches of croissants before realizing my oven runs 25 degrees hot

I was at a bake sale in Portland last spring and kept wondering why my croissants were always dark on the bottom. Talked to this old baker who runs a shop downtown and he told me to get an oven thermometer. Turns out my oven is 25 degrees hotter than what I set it to. Now I adjust every recipe down by that much. Has anyone else dealt with a messed up oven temp messing with your baking?
