Just saw a stat about how fast a TikTok sound can die

Honestly, I was looking at some data from a marketing blog called Social Media Today yesterday. They tracked a trending sound that got 2 million uses in 3 days, then basically vanished. The algorithm just completely stopped pushing it. It shows how the feed is designed to burn through content super fast to keep you scrolling. Makes you wonder what happens to all that creative effort after the algorithm moves on. Has anyone else seen a trend spike and crash that quickly?

Man, it's not just the sound that dies... it's the whole little ecosystem. Saw a dance trend where people were buying specific colored hats to match it. A week later, those hats were just useless clutter in their rooms. The algorithm creates this weird, temporary economy and then just abandons it.

You know, I never really thought about the "temporary economy" part before. That's such a good point and totally changes how I see these trends. It really is wasteful when you put it that way.

The worst part is how it trains us to see things as disposable. We get used to throwing away stuff and ideas after a week. That mindset is going to leak into everything else we do.
