Dubbed vs subbed for Attack on Titan - picked subbed and missed half the action reading subtitles

Started watching AoT last month and my friend swore by the subbed version. 3 episodes in and I kept missing the big fight scenes cause I was too busy reading. Switched to dubbed and honestly it felt way better. Has anyone else found that some shows just work better dubbed even if the subbed purists say otherwise?

You ever try watching something like Madoka Magica subbed? I did that once and spent the whole time squinting at the bottom of the screen during the really trippy fight sequences. Missed the entire witch labyrinth design. Switched to the dub for that one and actually caught all the creepy details. So yeah, I get it. Some shows just have too much visual stuff going on to keep splitting your attention.

Madoka's dub actually SLAPS, changed my whole mind on sub supremacy.

Oh wait hold on, Madoka Magica actually started as a dub originally? No that's not right at all. The show was made in Japan first and aired there with subs. But I feel you on the visuals thing, that show's fight scenes are a total trip. I actually watched it subbed back in the day and had to pause so many times just to take in the witch labyrinths. The dub is solid though, they got the voices right so you're not missing much either way.
