Dubs got better after 2015 and nobody wants to admit it

I started watching subbed only back in 2012 because the dub actors sounded like they were reading off a menu, but I gave the newer dubs a shot last year and the voice direction is night and day different. Studios started casting actual theater actors and doing proper script localization around 2016, so the performances feel natural instead of stiff. Has anyone else noticed the quality jump in the last 8 years or am I the only one who switched back?
