Did you check if his speed square was actually square before he used it?

Man, that's rough. A buddy of mine put that same stuff in his half bath and the exact same thing happened. He thought he was being smart with the 'waterproof' claim and paid a premium for it. Six months later, he pulled up the toilet to find a black mold colony the size of a dinner plate behind the baseboard. He ended up having to rip it all out and go back to basic sheet vinyl, which has been dry as a bone for three years now. That 'luxury vinyl' marketing is a trap for bathrooms in my book.

and my buddy jim literally just went through this exact thing last month. he had this old spring from a 16 footer he was gonna use on a small farm gate, figured he'd be careful and everything. thing let go while he was adjusting the tension bracket and put a dent in his garage wall you could fit a basketball through.

Honestly though, is the 3-to-1 thing really that strict? I toss in whatever's handy and my pile breaks down fine eventually. Maybe we overthink this stuff sometimes.
