Hit 200 hand-forged hooks and decided my pritchel hole is why, not my hammer
Knocked out my 200th hand-forged S-hook last Saturday, all of them for a hardware store in Missoula that sells them at the counter, and somewhere around number 140 I quit fighting my anvil. Turns out the pritchel hole on my 150 lb Peter Wright was undercut and grabbing my punch every third heat, so I dressed it with a die grinder and the last 60 hooks came out clean. Any of you ever chase a problem in your hammer arm when the real culprit was sitting right there in the anvil face?
