Just realized the guy at the anime club in Austin who said to skip filler arcs was only half right
Back in 2019 a guy named Dev at my local anime meetup in Austin told me to always skip filler arcs because they ruin pacing and waste time. I took that advice for about 3 shows and it worked fine, but then I hit a series where a filler arc actually set up a character backstory that the main story kept calling back to. I went back and watched it and felt like I'd missed a whole chunk of why the ending hit so hard. Now I check filler guides by episode number instead of skipping whole blocks. Has anyone else had a show where the filler turned out to matter more than the canon stuff?
