My buddy swore by Crunchyroll for 3 years and I finally see why

Last month I was over at his place and he was watching this show called 'Dandadan' on Crunchyroll. I always thought it was a waste of money since I just use free sites. But he showed me the video quality and no ads thing and honestly it was night and day. I signed up for the $8 a month plan last week and now I'm wondering if I've been missing out on other stuff too. Anyone else switch from free sites to a paid service and notice a big difference?

The video quality difference is actually way more noticeable on a big TV than on a phone, that's where free sites really fall apart. Plus with Crunchyroll you get the simulcasts within an hour of Japan airing, so you're not waiting weeks for some random uploader to get around to it. Once you get used to not having to fight popup ads every five minutes it's hard to go back.

I mean I get what you're saying about the big TV thing but honestly if I'm watching anime on my phone it's fine 90% of the time and that's how most people I know watch stuff now. The simulcast thing is cool but half the shows I watch end up getting delayed or having a bad episode encode anyway so it's not really perfect. And the popup ads are annoying but uBlock Origin handles most of that for me so it's not like I'm fighting them constantly.

Actually Crunchyroll simulcasts can be like 30 minutes to an hour late sometimes. I've had shows drop at 2pm instead of 1pm EST more than a few times. It's not always that perfect hour window people claim.
