A retired logger in Coeur d'Alene told me my saw was screaming because the rakers were too low
I was bucking a big ponderosa in a customer's yard near Coeur d'Alene when a retired logger named Walt stopped his truck and watched me fight the saw for a while. He walked over, looked at the chain, and said the rakers were filed down too far, which was making the saw grab and bog in the cut. I've been filing my own chain for 6 years, so how do you all set your raker depth, and do you use a gauge or just go by feel?
