I used to think carbon dating was just scientists guessing with extra steps. Went to a dig outside Cincinnati last spring and watched them pull charcoal from a fire pit, send it off, and get a date range that matched the pottery style exactly. I expected some fuzzy math, but the result lined up with the stratigraphy too. Now I get why it's the backbone of everything. Has anyone else had a moment where a method you were skeptical of just clicked after seeing it in action?
