Bought a $140 air purifier for my basement in Cleveland, and it did nothing for the smell
I dropped $140 on a HEPA air purifier after my basement started smelling like wet socks. Ran it 24/7 for 3 weeks straight and the smell was still there, turned out the issue was a clogged floor drain, not the air. What's the dumbest thing you bought to fix a problem that had a totally different cause?

That clogged drain will get ya every time. Bought a dehumidifier once for a "damp" smell that turned out to be a dead mouse in the wall. Money well spent, ha.
