I swore podcasts were a waste of time, until a 45 minute walk in Austin changed my mind
I used to skip any podcast a friend sent me and just ask for the highlights later. Then in March I started walking 45 minutes every morning around my neighborhood in Austin and got bored of music, so I gave one a shot. After about 3 weeks of doing this, I actually knew what my buddy was talking about at lunch instead of nodding along. The walking part is what did it, not some big mindset shift. Now I want to know, is there a podcast that only works if you're doing something else at the same time?
I have to push back on the idea that "the walking part is what did it." Walking helps a lot, sure, but plenty of podcasts work fine while you're doing the dishes or folding laundry. The thing that really mattered in your case is that you finally gave one enough time to get past the boring opening. Most people bail in the first five minutes and walk away thinking podcasts are dumb. It wasn't the 45 minutes of steps, it was the 45 minutes of actually listening.
