My 60mm finder scope was my biggest photography mistake

Spent 3 years taking astro shots and wondering why my framing always looked off. Turns out I was aligning everything through my finder scope without ever checking the actual camera sensor. Last month I finally did a live view capture and realized the finder was off by almost 2 degrees. My Andromeda shots were always slightly cropped wrong, now I use plate solving and it's night and day. Anyone else ever trust a cheap finder way too long?

lol plate solving is the only way. I wasted a whole season on a crooked finder once, never again.

Isn't it funny how we trust the little thing we can see instead of the real thing we're actually using? That's not just a camera problem, it's a life problem. We check the phone map instead of looking out the window, or we believe the label instead of testing the product ourselves. We all have these shortcuts that feel reliable until one day they prove they aren't, and then we wonder how we missed it for so long. The worst part is, the fix is usually right there all along, we just had to stop taking the shortcut for granted.
